Our Client

In 2019, our clients were purchasing their new home that they had planned to raise their family in. They decided on a Level 2 survey in the hope that this would alert them to any issues the property may face.

The report confirmed there were no significant defects identified and any defects that were identified were classed as common. Our clients were happy with this and decided to go ahead with the purchase.

Not long after moving into the property, our clients discovered cracks at the rear of the house. Their neighbours informed them that it had been a long-standing problem and that there was a safety worry.

Our clients contacted their home insurers in the hope that these problems and the repairs would be covered, only to find out that it is not, as it is a known, long-standing issue.

Our clients had been quoted £77,000 to rectify the issues. They were devastated and were not sure how they were going to find the money for the repairs.

How Been Let Down Helped

Our clients approached Been Let Down for professional legal guidance around their surveyor negligence claim.

After reviewing the evidence and obtaining further expert opinion, we were able to determine that the surveyor had failed in their duty to discover and highlight the issues the property was suffering and report these issues to our clients.

Been Let Down was able to successfully obtain £80,000 compensation for the clients. They were delighted with the result of the case and were able to put this toward the repairs to their property, so they can move forward with their lives in their new home.
